The Black Feminist Breathing Oracle Deck (aka BFB Cards) is a physical tool created by Alexis Pauline Gumbs and Sangodare as an extension of the BFB Mantra Meditation Chorus. It's designed to help users move from confusion to clarity by tapping into ancestral wisdom and their own intuition. Each card features a unique collage created by Alexis inspired by a Black feminist ancestor and powerful quote (aka "scripture") from the writings and speeches of these ancestors.

Cards & Collage

Alexis began this practice with original collages made in a contemplative collaging practice and then used the original collages as an aid in meditation. When expanding the practice to share it with other and later expanding it into an oracle practice, Sangodare digitized the collages to share posters and designed the oracle deck and an oracle app to make the practice more portable and accessible.

The Black Feminist Breathing Collages are a series of visual-poetic artworks created by Alexis Pauline Gumbs that combine text, image and spatial composition to honor and activate the energy of Black Feminist visionary ancestors. The prints hang on the walls of colleges & universities and living rooms around the world. They use archival materials, magazines and symbolic energy to guide one's focus when chanting the BFB mantras.
